Unknown Magic (3)
Chapter 8

I would be lying if I said I enjoyed the task at hand much less trying to figure out why the world is being odd much less.

Confused and needing answers, Wolf and I just got our lives even though we did the occasional trips or whatever you call them to battles. But this was beyond ridiculous. Luckily not much has changed in the last two days, which I am oddly thankful for. I could enjoy the earth beneath me and take in the forest smell that was familiar to me and also gave me peace. Least that is what I hoped for when upon returning home. No, the last two days I have been trying to understand these bloody murders and figure out why they are connected. Though Thuse wasn’t much help, even though he occasionally came to the pack but soon insisted I come to his office where everything such as evidence was stored. But since then both of us have been hiding a brick wall and I am not sure why.

Besides the visit with the queen Aura and king Zephyr words have only caused confusion on me. How on earth did two murders connect to unbalance of the ancient families. That I still trying to figure out, if only they gave somewhat better roadmap, I could be more useful.

Most of this was going through my mind, while I was spending time with Junior and Alice at the treehouse, we built for them in the woods behind the house. They enjoyed it so much, that when teaching was over, they would aside from trying to find Wolf or I they would come straight to here. Though during the winters, they would shift being wrapped in their Lycan form and play like wolves on structure in the tree branches. I always smiled fondly at those memories when they were younger.

“Mama” Junior called snapping me out my mind again. I looked over and saw he was sitting on one of the swings that hung from the treehouse. “Push me!” he shouted,

I only shook my head and walked over to him and felt a patch of sunlight shine through the trees, it warmed me, even though today was a hot summer day.

“Junior, you do not need to shout” I towered over him, “and what do we say instead of commanding?” I crossed my arms raising a eyebrow at him.

He looked up lifting those green eyes, shining them brightly towards the sun.

“Please, mama, are you willing to push me?”

I smiled, “yes” and winked around and began pulling him back and pushed the swing letting his shrieks of laughter fill the quiet forest.

Alice was above roaming around in the tree house doing something, but from my listening, sounded like she was playing with some toys. One we stored up in there for her and Junior. So, I continued to push Junior on the swing to eventually he wanted to stop and join Alice. With a nod I called up letting my voice echo through the air.

“Alice, Junior is coming up” and was about to turn away from the structure when a small brunette girl poked her head out of the windows shouting back.

“Mama, join us.”

With a sigh but appreciation, I climbed the ladder and stepped crawled hesitantly in the treehouse already the wood began to groan under my pressure. But I knew it would not break. And since this was made for them, the kids, everything was a bit smaller, making me end up crawling through a decent size door way to be welcomed by a wooden table, a chest and scattered sticks, balls and toys the children made themselves. Making it seem cramped than it usually is.

I ended up playing games with them that really required the table and began feeling through the time in the treehouse the heat.

“it becoming hot in here” I think out loud, “let me get some water for you two to store up here.” I finished speaking and they both acknowledged me leaving. But I shook the house bit with the same creaking noise. But soon I was back on the ground, where I could feel solid ground and have no fear that I made something unsteady. I looked up at the small house and smiled, its those moments I enjoy and will take as precious time. Those moments as a mother I make sure I don’t take for granted.

I take a step towards the house and my vision cloud as I am being transported to somewhere else.

There was light but I am not sure where it was coming from. I tried moving my head to see elsewhere but my focus was stuck forward least I think it was forward. Though a sound of something slicing nothing, close to a high pitch whistle, made me curious till a flash of blade slowly passed before my eyes and a cold feeling began to settle in my skin. The blade came back and began to hover only a few feet away from my face. The blade the blade began to bleed, dripping down red liquid but making no sound.

My reoccurring vision has come back.

I watched it unfold before my eyes as the same sword began to move and pull me forward sending all to familiar pain through my body. I could not shriek from the pain but endure it and wait for the vision to end.

And just as I fear, there in the distance as they came closer, bodies upon bodies of men and women. Some had their eyes open as if they could not shield away the horror while other were closed, to them I envied. The blood began flowing down the bodies and screaming echoed in the darkness, but happily not piercing my ears. Soon it would be over.

“Help them” A voice in the distance, but I had no idea how to.

“Death of the forty-two will be mine” another dark voice roared.

And another shot of pain went through me as if I was being stabbed myself. I shrieked but was soon sucked back into light where trees and sunlight reappeared. With a relief I breathed a sigh and felt exhausted enough that my legs gave out. I thought the ground would break my fall but someone was there of course, catching me as my body began to lower to the dirt ground. I was lowered into their lap, shushing me and two small voice. It didn’t dawn on that I truly was screaming or whimpering till a hand lightly touched my face.

“Hey, hey, hey, it okay, you are okay,” his voice reassured me and I looked up in his cradled arms around me and saw those comforting eyes of the green forest with beautiful sunshine adding to the taste.

He began stroking my hair looking down at me, then briefly broke our gaze, “Alice, Junior, leave, go into the house of find grandmama or grandpapa” he brought up his hand, I assumed to silence their protests and brought his attention back to me. “Same vision again?” the question I always dreaded. I nodded my head as my throat began to feel sore. He began threading his hand through my hair. “You were screaming, the kids heard and came for me to which I came to the tad end…oh Asema what is happening?’ his voice soft.

I wasn’t sure bit I began to rise up into seating position with little help from Wolf. I sat there slumped unsure of what to even think or do. Those vision didn’t make any sense, but new information came.

“Something new occurred…two voice…” I started and Wolf still supporting me cocked his head to the side in wonder but also waiting on me to continue. “First one was unknown, saying help them and the other was a dark one saying that a number forty-two will be theirs.”

Wolf shrugged his shoulders while shaking his head, “and any idea how you can go off on those clues?”

“No…” I sighed in defeat.

He nods, “I wish I could be more of help.”

I took his hand and squeezed it, “you are, by dealing with me.”

He smiled but for some reason I felt doubt in him.
