Chapter 68

Colter's POV

Alexa had finally fallen asleep, and we got her moved up to a private room. They had turned the air as cold as they could get

it and brought in fans and pointed them at her. She was covered in cold wet towels. Her body had cooled down some but no

enough. You could feel the heat coming off her still. They had put two IVs in her and were pumping as much fluid into her as they could, so she didn't get dehydrated. I wanted to hold her so much, but it seemed like every time someone or something touched her, she was in pain. The doctor had drawn some blood while we were downstairs, and we were waiting for it to come back so we knew what we were dealing with. Her shoulder was also broken but they didn't want to fix it yet since we didn't know what we were dealing with, and she seemed to be in so much pain already.

someone knocked on the door and then came in. It was Mac and Liam.

“Hey man, do you know what happened to her?” Mac asked.

“No, we're waiting for the blood test to come back. Did you get everyone locked up?"

“Yes, and Robert is chained down with silver. He isn't going anywhere. I also have two guards outside his door”

“Good. How many injured and causalities do we have?” I asked.

“We have five serious injuries that are being taken care of right now and a lot of minor ones and only one causality. The

young man who was trying to help Luna before we got there” Liam said.

“Who was itz"

“sir, it was Rocky. He is a young warrior, and he didn't stand a chance against them by himself”

“Mac, go inform his family and see if they need anything. Liam, go see if you can find out what Robert injected her with." I

told them.

They both nodded and walked out of the room. I continued to sit there and just watch Alexa. A nurse would come in every

thirty minutes and change out her wet towels. After about three times changing them, the doctor walked in.

“Alpha sir, I have the results of her blood work.”

“What is itz" I growled at him.

“It appears that she was injected with vampire venom and a lot of it. That is why her body is so hot and in so much pain. She

has had too, much put into her, and I believe she is fighting the change” He said.

“Can we stop it?" I asked but it was barely a whisper.

“I can try dialysis on her to help get some of it out of her but at this point, she is going to change. She has to accept it and

soon.”

“Get it started now,” I yelled at him

He turned on his heel and left the room quickly. I walked over to Alexa and put my head down by hers. I didn't know if she

could hear me or not, but I had to tell her.

“Princess, you can't fight this. You were injected with vampire venom, and you have to accept the change. Don't worry, I will

love you and accept you no matter what happens. Just accept it and come back to me. We also have Robert in custody. You

need to wake up so you can kill him. I promised that you could, and you will” I just hoped that she heard me and would listen to what I had to say.

Liam came bursting through the door out of breath and panting.

“What is it, Liam?" I growled at him.

“It's vampire venom. Sorry, it took so long some beatings to get it out of his rogues.” He said.

“I know. We got the blood test back” I growled back at him.

The doctor came back in wheeling some type of machine and a lot of tubing.

“Alpha sir, we are going to have to thread a tube down her jugular in her neck. It is going to be bloody. I am going to give her

some sedation in order to do this. I need you to step out of the room.”

“No,” I growl at him.

“Alpha sir, I am sorry, but it needs to be as sterile as possible. I just need you right outside the door”

I stormed to the door and threw it open and turned, waiting for the door to close so I could watch through the window in th

door. Laim was right behind me. I saw them pull the wet towels from around her neck and wipe it with something yellow anc

then place a blue towel over it

I couldn't watch anymore and turned around but about five seconds later we heard the most blood curling scream come

from Alexa. I threw the door back open the nurses were trying to hold her down while the doctor threaded this thing in her.

“LET HER GO NOW!" I roared out.

“Alpha, I have to get this in. It's the vampire venom. Either out of the room or help hold her down.”

I walked over to her and placed my hands on her shoulders. I could feel the break in one of her shoulders and pressed the

other one down as best as I could, and the doctor continued to do what he needed to while barking out orders to nurses.

“Princess, please relax we are only trying to help you. You have to calm down so we can remove our hands from you” I told

her and you could feel her relax just a litle bit but still fighting us.

The doctor was hooking up the machine and you could see that there were two tubes hooked up. One of them was pulling

blood out and running it through a machine while the other was pushing the blood back into her system. She finally calms

down and I can feel her relax more. I let go of her and grab my chair and pull it back to her bed and sit beside her just watching and making sure nothing bad happens.

“sir, Sloane would like to come and sit with you and Alexa if that is alright?” Liam asked me.

“If she can handle it then it's fine," I tell him never taking my eyes off Alexa.

Pretty soon I hear the door open, and Sloane comes in walking to the other side of the bed next to the dialysis machine.

Liam brings her a chair and she sits down and reaches her hand out to touch her.

“Don't, it causes her more pain if you touch her” I snapped at Sloane.

I could see the tears in her eyes. She wanted to comfort her friend just like I did but we couldn't, not yet anyway. We both sa

there in silence and Liam stood behind her with his hands on her shoulders.

Afew hours later the door opened, and the doctor walked in. He walked over to Alexa and started removing wet towels and

taking her vitals.

“Alpha sir, the dialysis is working. Her temperature is down some. I am going to lighten the sedation and see how she does.

We are going to have to turn the dialysis off in the next hour. Her body can only handle so much of it"

I just nodded at him, and he walked out of the room. A few minutes later Mac walked in and pulled a chair up beside me anc

we all just sat around her bed watching her. She had so many people that loved her and would be there for her when she

woke up. I just hope that she knows it.

An hour later the doctor comes back in and starts to unhook her from the machine. He flushed her blood back into her

system with saline and then unhooked the tubes that connected to the tubes in her neck but left those ones in her in place.

He cleaned the area and placed a bandage over it.

He walked out without saying anything to us and we just continued to watch her. It was well into the night when I started to

doze off. Everyone else in the room was asleep already but I didn't want to take my eyes off her, but I couldn't keep my eyes

open any longer.

I was woken several hours later by Alexa moaning and moving around in bed. I jumped up and ran into the hall and yelled at

the first nurse I saw to get the doctor. I ran back into the room, and she was still moaning but at least she wasn't screaming

this time.

I reached my hand out to hers to grab it and she calmed just a little. She also wasn't nearly as hot as she was last night. The

door was thrown open and the doctor took long strides until he was standing beside me.

“What's happening, doctor? I asked.

“I think she accepted the change, and the transition is about to be complete. She should be waking up soon. She isn't in as

much pain and her temperature is almost normal” The doctor said.

I sat back down holding her hand and Sloane grabbed her other hand and we all just sat there watching her again. She

continued to moan in pain and move around in the bed. We couldn't really do much to help her at this point. She just had tc

accept it.

It had been two hours since this started, and she was finally calming down. The doctor just walked back in carrying a couple

of bags of blood and laid them on the table.

“What are those for doctor?” Liam asked.

“Well, she has accepted the change and she is going to want this when she wakes up” He said.

I felt sick to my stomach. The thought of someone wanting to drink blood is disgusting but I would have to get used to it as

my mate is going to need it.

“I suggest that you guys all leave. I don't know what type of state she will be in when she wakes up and she should be soon”

The doctor said.

Liam pulled Sloane up and took her to the door and Mac followed.

“Alpha please let me know when she wakes up and if she is, ok?” Sloane said and then they all left.

I sat back down taking her hand. She had all but stopped moaning in pain and moving on the bed. The doctor went and sat

on the other side just watching her.

Two hours later Alexa's eyes snap open and she looks around the room widely. She jumped up on the bed crouching. Her

eyes went to the blood bags on the table, and she licked her lips.

“Princess, how do you feel?" I asked her.

She looked at me and cocked her head to the side and then let out a hiss. She fucking hissed at me. What the hell did they

do to her?
