My blood boiled, and my heartbeat increased while I curled my fingers into a fist to prevent myself from punching something. 

How dare she tell one of my pack members about our relationship?

“Who is that person?” I asked her. I mean, why should she have to contact me through the phone, if I am standing right in front of her? 

“Alpha Carmen Vanguard.” this name made me stagger in my steps. Alpha Vanguard is a known playboy and my wolf. and I started to wonder why Sarah told this name instead of mine. I am her mate, not that bastard. 

“Beta…” the doctor tried to get my attention, but I stormed away from that place and shifted into my Carmel brown wolf in midair. A part of me is relieved that Sarah didn’t disclose our relationship, but the major part of me was jealous and angry for her to utter another male wolf’s name as her mate.

I ran across our borders till I was exhausted before I made my way back to the hospital. Before I entered the pack house, I wore a pair of shorts, that were kept outside, and rushed to the hospital wing. 

The place was not that crowded except for soon–to–be mothers coming into their routine checkups, and when I saw them, my heart leaped, and I yearned to see my mate like that, carrying my pup, but I know that it will never happen. When I arrived at room number twelve, I saw Alpha Blaze standing outside the room with Dimitri and Noah. 

“Zachary, where did you go?” was the first thing Adrian asked me, but I kept quiet. I didn’t know how am I going to explain to him my situation with Sarah. “The doctor informed me that Sarah was mumbling Alpha Vanguard’s name repeatedly, and she guessed that he must be her mate, so she informed me about it,” Adrian said. 

“Did you inform Alpha Vanguard about this?” I asked him, but my words choked out, and Adrian narrowed his eyes at my mishap. 

“You know how Alpha Vanguard is. So I send in a few of my pack members and asked around to see if the information is correct, and to my surprise, it is true. Alpha Vanguard had informed a few of his close associates that Sarah Willaims is his mate, and they had a misunderstanding due to which she left their pack.” Adrian explained, but for some odd reason, I didn’t want to believe this. The Moon goddess paired Sarah with me, and after hearing this information, I became a bit possessive about my mate. “I informed Alpha Vanguard about the situation here, and he said he will be here as soon as possible.” I was broken out of my trance

when I heard this, and I stared at Adrian in horror. 

“When is he coming here?”

“It’s been an hour since I informed him, he should be here within the next hour or so,” Adrian said, and my wolf urged me to tell Adrian that Alpha Vanguard is not Sarah’s mate, but I am. 

“Never knew Sarah is a Luna and that too Alpha Vanguard’s mate,” Dimitri said. 

“I would have never flirted with her if I knew this sooner,” Noah said, but I moved away from them. 

“Is she awake?” I asked Adrian, and he shook his head. 

“Her condition is only getting worse, and if Alpha Vanguard didn’t come here on time, I don’t think she will make it.” He said, and just then, his phone rang, after speaking, he took Dimitri with him to go and receive the alpha. 

“Noah, please go and check our borders once more.” 

“But I just came back from there,” he whined, and I glared at him for trying to defy my orders, so he begrudgingly left the place. Once no one was around, I slowly entered Sarah’s room and closed and locked the door behind me. 

Sarah looked frail, wearing a white hospital gown, and there. were two IV drips on either hand, one had saline, and the other had a blue liquid which must be some sort of antibiotic. I silently moved closer to my mate, her heartbeat was faint, and she was breathing through the oxygen mask with great difficulty, and her lips were moving, muttering

something. I got curious and moved my ear closer to hear what she had to say. 

“Van…Vanguard…hate you.” she kept repeating this, but she never opened her eyes. 

“Beta Zachary, Alpha Vanguard will be reaching the hospital in fifteen minutes.” I got a mind link from Dimitri. 

“What is the relationship between you and Alpha Vanguard, Sarah?” I asked her, even though I know that she will not reply. I looked at the heart monitor to see that the number of beats per minute is slowly decreasing. I couldn’t see my mate die in front of me, and I will never let another male touch her either. So I put aside my ego and took off the oxygen mask. She started to take deep breaths, while I quickly made a deep cut near the vein on my right hand and opened her mouth, and let my blood drip inside. 

My blood is working, her heartbeat was slowly getting steady, and I removed a few buttons from her hospital gown. to see that the blood had stopped oozing from her wound and most of her small scratches are healing. Once her wound was completely healed. I made her wear the oxygen mask again and moved away from her. A small smile graced my face when I saw that her cheeks had gained back the blush–pink color. I unlocked the room door and walked out of the room with contentment. Now Alpha Vanguard would have no reason to touch my mate.
