Chapter 44 

Ana shook her head. 

“Hun, the girl told you he was desperate to get back to his girlfriend. And he wasn’t with someone else. I think that says something.” 

“If you are so sure that he cares about me, why did you enjoy his misery so much?” Ana asked. 

“Regardless of what I believe, he hurt my baby girl. I deserve to rejoice in his misery. But I won’t continue it. I will treat him. with respect and kindness. Happy?” 

Ana sighed heavily. “Thank you, dad.” 

Alan wrapped his arm around her and kissed her head. “I love you, kid.” 

“Love you too, dad.” 

That evening. Damien came knocking on her door. She looked at the clock and smiled. He was an hour earlier than she had asked him to come. 

Damien handed her a flower. Even Alan got a wishing flower that he could play with. 

“Alan, tear the petals outside!” Ana warned as he grabbed onto the petals with his chubby hands. Alan stepped out on the small porch and she could hear him giggling and destroying the flower. 

“Does Dianna know you ransacked her garden?” Ana teased. 

“She wouldn’t mind. It was for a good cause,” Damien smirked deviously. 

“Look!” Alan bounced back inside, holding just the stem. “It’s gone!” 

“Awesome, buddy.” Damien cheered. He gave Ana a look. “Should we get this checked out?” 

Ana laughed and shook her head. 

“Do ya wanna play in my room?” Alan asked. Actually, he wasn’t asking, he was dragging Damien to the playroom. Ana chuckled and started making dinner. 

An hour later, they sat down at the table and had food. 

“Mm, what is this?” Damien asked after the first bite of food. 

“Chikin nuggies!” Alan grinned. 

“Nuggies?” Damien asked, delighted. 

“Homemade stuffed chicken balls. He likes nuggets, so I tried making them at home.” She lowered her voice. “Are they bad?” She tasted it quickly. They tasted fine to her. 

“No. It’s amazing.” Damien took another bite. 

“Iz mah faaaave!” Alan said, stuffing another mouthful of food. 

Damien watched him with delight and shook his head. 

“Can we watch a mooooooovie?” Alan begged as he pushed the empty plate to Ana. 

Chapter 

“Brush your teeth and put your pajamas on!” 

Alan knew his mother had agreed. He jumped off his seat and disappeared down the hallway. Damien picked up his own bowl, followed by Alan and Ana’s. He took them into the kitchen. 

“I’ll clean up later. I have some work to finish. Are you okay watching a movie with Alan?” she asked. 

“I’d love to.” 

Ana set it up as Damien sat down on the sofa and Alan climbed up next to him. The movie started to play and Ana grabbed her laptop and started working in the dining room. Her parents had been promptly going out on dates whenever Damien was over. They wanted to give the three some fainily time, but also, it was awkward hanging around Damien. 

Ana really tried to get some work done, but she kept getting distracted. About twenty minutes into the movie, she looked up. to find Alan leaning against Damien. Damien’s fingers were absent–mindedly playing with Alan’s hair. 

Ana bit her lip to hide her smile and looked down at her laptop. Another twenty minutes later, Alan was slumped completely over Damien’s lap. 

“Is he asleep?” Ana whispered. 

Damien looked down, his hand still stroking Alan’s hair. “Look like it.” 

Ana stood up. “I will take him to his room.” 

Damien shook his head. “He’s fine for now. I don’t mind.” 

“Sure?” 

“I have never seen this movie,” Damien confessed.

“I didn’t have the time!” he grinned. 

“Oh, please. You think it’s not manly. Men should embrace their inner child. It’s the sexiest thing when men let go,” she teased. 

“Is that so?” 

“As long as you know the difference between embracing your inner child and being childish.” 

Damien chuckled. “Does it count if I take Alan with me or is it only sexy when I am alone?” he questioned. 

“Damien, women drool over men with kids. It makes their ovaries explode. Men are ten times sexier when they know how to care for a child.” 

Damien looked at her and then back down at the sleeping Alan. “I’d like to do that.” 

“Be sexier?” she laughed. 

“No. Take him to a movie. Take care of him. Do you think he would like to go with me?” 

It was a huge step. 

“I think he would like that. How soon are you thinking?” Ana asked nervously. 

“It doesn’t have to be tomorrow or next week. A little later when Alan and you are both comfortable with the idea.” 

“Okay,” Ana agreed. “You’re just going to sit and watch a movie with him. While he falls asleep.” 

Do you think he is uncomfortable sleeping like this?” Damien asked, watching the odd way Alan’s neck was bent. 

“No. Are you?” 

Damien shook his head. “Not in the slightest. Would you like to join me?” He patted the spot next to him. 

Ana looked down and gulped. “Give me a minute. I need to finish a few things for work and then I can come over,” she added quickly. “I can come over. And watch the movie.” 

Damien’s shoulder shook with laughter. 

“Stop.” Ana groaned. 

When she joined Damien a little later, it was awkward. She stretched Alan out on the sofa so that his head was on Damien’s lap and his feet on her. 

Ana wanted to talk to Damien but she didn’t want to ruin the progress they had made in the last week. 

As they sat in silence watching the movie, Ana heard a soft whisper. 

“Goodnight, Ana,” he said as he pushed a strand of hair away from her face. His gentle touch warmed her up. 

“Goodnight,” she barely whispered. 

And then he was gone. 

That night, after a long time, Ana used a vibrator. It didn’t take her long to orgasm. Not with the lingering feeling of Damien’s arms still around her. She couldn’t remember the details of his body all those years ago, but she didn’t have to think of anything specific. Just the mere presence of him. 

She arched her back and whimpered softly as she came. She had forgotten how a little self–love helped with sleep. That night, she definitely slept like a baby.
