Chp 10

I stood up and took a few deep breaths looking around the room, when they saw me they took a step back and Jack held up his hands saying he won’t hurt me. I knew exactly what to do when he said that, I walked over to him and everyone else backed away. Jack’s wings were still out but he had a gentle smile on his face, I went to hug him and he hugged me back with gentle hands. I whispered into his ear “sorry I can’t have anyone follow me” while I said that I ripped out most of his primary feathers and he screamed in pain while falling to the floor. I took my chance and darted to the front door but the door was still locked from earlier and it took too long to undo them, I was grabbed from behind by the purple haired man and he was showing no sign of letting go. Just then there was a pounding at the door, i knew it had to be Mark so I screamed for help but my mouth was covered. Sam went to the door and hid his wings behind his back while opening the door to greet Mark with a smile saying “what can I do for you Mark?” I heard shouting from the door and Sam stayed calm the whole time but in the end he shut the door and Mark had left. All my effort had been for nothing… he didn’t come in. The purple haired man took his hand away from my mouth and I chomped on it before it was far away, he screamed and blood was coming from his hand but I didn’t let go until he pulled away from me screaming “what the hell is she a dog?!” he was still gripping his hand when he backed away. At that point most of them were injured so I calmed down a bit and knelt to the floor, when I put my hands on my head I heard Kye speak up in his normal shy voice “I know this is hard… please calm down Max, we are not going to hurt you. You know me, you know Sam please just listen to us” he was begging me so I nodded my head then whispered “only Jax”. After that they all stepped back and let Jax step forward, the others were helping Paul and left me be. I looked up at Jax and his wings were put away when he started talking “hey, i’m just going to say it… we are demons BUT we are not going to hurt you! We were honestly just your friends, we all agreed that’s all it would be. I’m so sorry you had to see us like this, it must be terrifying for you” I nodded at his words and he kept talking “can I safely come over there?” i nodded once again and he slowly crouched down next to me. I was so tired and worn out so I whispered to Jax “I need sleep” and passed out onto the floor, I felt my body being carried and then set down on my bed. Once I woke up it had been two days, the only person in my room was Jax sitting cross legged next to my bed. I reached my hand out and stroked his silky black hair, he didn’t seem to mind and let me continue. When I took my hand back he left the roof, I was desperate for him not to leave and tried shouting but i had no voice so he left. I heard my door open and stayed still waiting to see who it was, it turned out to be Paul with bandages all over himself. I shot up and went to the back of my bed, he stopped after he shut the door and he sat on the floor. He looked exhausted, I felt a little bad for what I did yesterday but I would never admit that. Paul snapped his fingers and the sword from yesterday appeared next to me on my bed, he didn’t say a word he just closed his eyes and said “i’m sorry, i know i deserve to be eliminated but that sword won’t cut it… i never got the chance to say sorry” he sighed and talked again “i’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that” he looks like he has given up and I couldn’t say a word I just sat there and watched him intently. I finally relaxed because the window showed the sun had started to set, I put my bare feet on the floor and opened the window next to the head of my bed. When I looked out the ground was only a few feet away so I started climbing out, Paul hadn’t noticed because he fell asleep. I landed on the soft grass and walked around back to a small park, I sat at the bench under a lamp light and started thinking to myself “I know they’re still my friends so maybe I can just accept them as they are… That’s probably why our missions always went so well not that i think about it” When I was done thinking I got up and headed back to the apartment. When I arrived at my window I decided not to go in that way and walked around the front. I reached the front door and knocked, there was no answer so I went up to the window to see what what going on. I saw everyone put their wings away and were just either sitting or standing around… how rude, they didn’t come to the door. I saw the purple haired man was sitting on the red couch in front of the window reading a book, I decided i wanted to read too so I squinted my eyes and read from where he was. I recognized the book and it was a book i use to be obsessed with in highschool, not long after I started reading he closed the book at the most suspenseful part and I was upset. After he set the book aside he turned his head to look at something but spotted me, all I could do was back away and smile at him. It looked like he sighed and got up from his seat heading towards the door, thank the lord he opened it for me because it was getting colder by the minute. When I walked in everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me, I was awkward as hell so I smiled and said “i went for a walk” in a shy voice. I quickly averted my eyes from the living room and went into the kitchen, as soon as I opened the fridge I realized everything I own is back at the factory. I couldn’t help but whisper a few curse words to myself and go back to the living room, once I arrived I looked around the room trying to decide who I would take with me to get my stuff. Everyone was watching me and I pointed at the three people I wanted while saying their names “Sebastian, Sam and Kye” they just cocked their heads so I went over to Kye who was in the corner and grabbed him by the back of his shirt and set him outside the front door then I did the same for Sam and Sebastian. We were all out of the apartment and I explained “I need to go get my things from the factory, I need Sebastian to take me there and you two to help me carry my stuff” they just nodded and stood there for a minute. I let out a sigh and pointed to their backs, after that they seemed to understand. Sebastian grabbed me by the waist but before he jumped into the air Kye said something I was not expecting “why does he get to carry you?” I just stood there with my mouth open and Sam said the same thing. Before I know what’s going on I am in Kye’s arms then pulled into Sam’s and he leapt into the sky with ease, Sam unfurled his large maroon wings and took off into the night. We were followed by Sebastian and Kye, I looked down onto the city lights and felt at peace while the cool night air swept my hair behind me. Sam was gliding and swooping up and down with the slightest movement of his wings, as I watched his wings he spoke to me in a low voice “are you still afraid of me?” I looked up towards his face but he was looking straight so I couldn’t see his expression. When he flapped his wing downward I reached my hand to it and his feathers were softer than anything I have ever felt, when I touched them he stopped breathing for a second and I spoke up to him “No, their wonderful. Why should I be afraid of something so magnificent? It was a shock at first but… i’ve grown to like your wings”. A little more time and we started to descend, I couldn’t see anything because of the darkness surrounding me but they could see just fine. When we reached the ground my legs felt like jello, I was able to follow their lead and head to the factory. The first one to enter was Sebastian and he flicked on the lights, the first thing I grabbed was my large suitcase full of swords and daggers. Sam grabbed a box of clothes and Sebastian filled a box with my shoes and my bedding. I saw the dress the detective Jack gave me and I folded it up and stored it with my swords, we were done packing everything but couldn’t take it all in one trip so they asked me what I needed most, I grabbed my swords and my clothes. Before we left we had the same argument from before but this time I wound up in Kye’s arms to be taken home, we took off and were home in a matter of minutes. We all walked in the apartment and took my things to my room, they hurriedly left my room for some reason and didn’t come back this time. I was curious so I went to the hallway and peeked my head around the corner into the living room, the purple haired man was not in his spot and Jack was gone too. I felt like I should let them know I was going to hop in the shower so I walked over to Drew who was standing near the door and told him “I am hoping in the shower make sure nobody peeks” he just gave a chuckle and nodded his head with his arms folded on his chest. I felt relieved he was there, he was the one I trusted most at the office. I went to my room and unpacked my clothes and towels, I grabbed my light purple towel and a pair of soft blue pajamas. When I got to the bathroom I undressed and that’s when some luxurious shampoo and conditioner along with a bar of soap appeared on the rack in the tub. I know it had to be someone nearby so I cracked the door and shouted “thank you!” then shut it and locked it. While I was in the shower I couldn’t see through the the curtains but I could have sworn I saw a silhouette near the front of the room. I peeked my head out just enough to see who was there and it turned out to be the purple haired man, I was too shy to speak up or scream so I just watched what he was doing. The first thing I saw him do was grab my towel and my eyes went huge but he put it back, then he grabbed my pajamas and I couldn’t fathom what he would do. Just as I was going to stop looking he snapped his fingers and my pajamas were now the same purple as my towel. I hung my mouth and pulled my head bac, that’s when he left the room. I was puzzled at his behavior and couldn’t wrap my head around it. I didn’t even know the guy, it doesn’t seem like anyone else knows him either. I thought about how weird this whole situation was and finished my shower, after I dried off I grabbed my now purple pajamas. They are softer than before, they feel like silk now and I slipped on my bottoms then my top and buttoned it up but someone knocked on my door. I asked who it was and there was no reply, I asked again and a small soft voice came from the other side “I need to use the restroom please” I knew it had to be the purple haired man so I hurried and gathered my dirty clothes. I left the bathroom and he went in, I put my laundry in the old box and headed to the living room. There were less people than before, now it was only Paul, Sebastian and the purple haired man in the bathroom. I walked over to Sebastian who was standing next to the white couch in a black shirt and some slacks, I looked up at him and asked “where’d everyone go?” he looked down at me and said “they went home now that they know you are okay, it’s just us three now. Oh I meant to ask you, do you know the purple haired man?” I shook my head at him and he got a worried look but hid it with a smile as soon as I saw. Next I went over to Paul who was sitting on the red couch and sat next to him with a big sigh “I’m sorry I attacked you” he just says it’s okay but I saw he didn’t wrap his arm correctly so I ran to my room and grabbed my medical supplies then ran back to Paul. I grabbed him by the wrist and he winced in pain “it’s okay, i know how to do this. Please let me” he nodded and gave me his arm. I unwrapped his old bandage and saw it was almost completely healed, I put some antibiotics on it and rewrapped it anyway. When I was done with that I went across the room and grabbed Sebastian by the hand to lead him to my room. When we got there he stopped in the entry way for some reason so I turned around and said “you need to be a bird at night… it would help me” when I finished speaking he looked a little sad and wrapped himself in his wings then a flurry of feathers surrounded him and he became a large bird. I picked him up and he latched onto my arm, I walked over to my bed and started to cover myself with the blanket. When I was done I set him down by my side and it looked like he was confused so I told him “you have to be my pet at night at least okay? That means you can cuddle up next to me and keep me warm!” I said it in a cheery voice so that he would join me. I laid down and wrapped my arm around his large feathery body and we went to sleep.

It has been about a week since everyone was revealed and now they come and go as they please, the only person who hasn’t left once was the purple haired man. I feel bad calling him that so I came up with a name and I am going to test it out when I leave my room today. Me and Sebastian woke up and I changed into my work clothes, we agreed to keep him being my pet a secret because it was humiliating for him. I walked out of my room followed by human Sebastian, when I got to the living room the purple haired man was asleep on the red couch. I walked over to him and shook his shoulders whispering into his ear “Hey, Lavender wakey wakey! I need to know if you want breakfast” he groggily opened his eyes but he had a fierce look in his eyes, it was like nothing he had looked like before when I woke him so I backed up a bit. He sat up and kept his gaze locked on me, I was paralyzed and couldn’t speak, it was like the first time I met Sebastian. He spoke up in a deep voice “what did you just say?” I was puzzled at his words and just cocked my head at him then he spoke up again “did you just call me Lavender?” I hadn’t called him anything before so it was new to us both. I nodded my head and his normal calm composure came back as he stood up, the coffee table was behind my legs so I couldn’t back up anymore. Lavender came up to me and wrapped his arms around me, I was thoroughly confused and just stood there. When he backed away he had a soft smile and thanked me and agreed to breakfast. I went to the kitchen but Lavender was following me for some reason, I got to the fridge and grabbed the egg carton, some ketchup and cheese. I headed to grab my pan and Lavender was behind me again, next I cracked the eggs and a poof went off right next to me. I saw a large purple bird on my counter and i knew it was Lavender so I let him watch. When I was done whisking my eggs a pair of salt and pepper shakers poofed in front of me. I looked over to Lavender and he nudged both of them towards the eggs, I got his hint and poured some salt and pepper into the eggs and started cooking them. When the scrambled eggs are almost done Sebastian walks into the kitchen and stops in his tracks staring at Lavender. Today Sebastian was wearing a grey shirt and some jeans, I tell him it’s almost done and he goes to the table to set the table. I put a even amount of eggs on each plate then cover them in cheese, Lavender is back to normal and we all sat down to eat. I felt very uncomfortable because Sebastian was glaring at Lavender and Lavender was gleefully looking at me, I kept switching my gaze back and forth the whole meal. I finished faster than normal and cleared my plate before them, I headed to the living room and flopped backward onto the white couch. Next thing I know I hear flapping sounds and A purple bird lands on my bent knees. I reach out to Lavender and pat him on his head then ran my fingers across his back. He seemed to enjoy it so i kept doing it. After a few minutes Sebastian comes in the room and sits on the red couch in front of the window. I can’t hold it in anymore it was too awkward so I looked at Sebastian “what’s got you in a bad mood today?” he stays silent so I ask again and he just points at lavender. I know what’s going on now “I thought you didn’t like being my pet, maybe Lavender would like to fill that position?” while talking I rub my nose on his beak and it seems to make him happy. Sebastian looks even more pissed off than normal and walks over to us. Suddenly he grabs Lavender and shrew him across the room, I shrieked as he hit the floor. I rush down to Lavender and scoop him up in my arms, I turn back to Sebastian with tears and shout “what’s wrong with you?! He is just like you, you don’t have to throw him!” I take him to my room and set him on my bed after slamming my door. I look at him and tell him to turn into a human, after he does he is holding his arm like it’s in pain. I have to ask why Sebastian doesn’t like him but can’t muster up the courage. I sit next to him and ask him a question that’s boggled my mind this whole time “how old are you? And do you mind if I call you that?” he shoots his head up and talks very loudly “no! I don’t mind at all! I actually really like it!” then he hesitates to finish “i am nineteen. I know i am younger than everyone else but when I heard that whistle it was like… like someone was calling me, needing me” just as I thought he is young. I look at him and smile, I tell him I will talk to Sebastian but it seems like he doesn’t want me to. We talked for a couple hours about random things and we both enjoyed every second of it. After lunch Sebastian came back home, apparently he had stormed out of the house when we left. I hand Sebastian his food and I give him a hug. When I let go he had tears in his eyes, I went in for another hug and he hugged me back this time. He goes to the table and eats his food, I walk into the living room and sit on the white couch across from Lavender. When I lean my head back I hear “poof, poof, poof” and Jack, Drew and Paul showed up in the entry way. Paul comes over to me since we are on better terms and sits down.
