Lacuna:

chapter 7

Numb, empty–those words described her at that moment. The people who came to see her parents take their last rest are all blurry figures, the rain falling seeping through her clothes and making her shiver from its cold feel, never being a bother–actually she loved it, a reflection of her emotions out in the open.

There she was, alive and dead, soul crashed, heart a blackhole that sucked everything positive. If only she had died, all the despair eating her away would be non-existent–just a familiar nightmare.

If only she had died, she wouldn't be here–a girl with a torn soul under the tears of the sky.

They had continued the journey after she calmed down. Intertwined hands on the console, the pity-patter rhythm of the rain against the windows and the radio playing soft music in the background–both were lost in a world of their own, just them two. She loved it, all the caring and loving gestures he made toward her and the feel of his soft, warm hands in hers.

She remembered more than just the introduction he made to her, she also remembered when he had given her the necklace, she's been wearing for most of her life–she never dared to take it off, something about the action felt wrong; like she's breaking a promise of some sort. "Larky, the oak tree, was that our secret place of meeting?" She suddenly asked. Most of the memories that came back are from the oak tree, a tree her mother used to sit under with her and her sister and enjoy some milk and honey Cookies that she used to love so much.

"Yes, that's where we first met, you were 5 years old at the time, you came up to me and offered me a ride on the swing." He smiled at her as he said that. The memory never fails to bring a smile to his face, it's one of his favorites. "That sounds like me." She laughed a little, shifting a little in her seat so as to face him better. She stared at him for a while, seeming to be intrigued by this beautiful man who has claimed her heart. Maybe he isn't that bad, maybe the love between them was genuine and it isn't all just a trick to get something from her.

Maybe she really just found her other half, someone who'll remain by her side no matter what. "What, do I have something on my face?" He asked, realizing that she's been staring at him for a while now. He placed his hand on his face to feel for anything wrong that she couldn't seem to take her eyes off. She quickly snatched his hand back and intertwined them once more; ignoring the sparks that ran like electricity throughout her body at the action. "No, everything's fine. I was just admiring the adonis who somehow stole my heart without me realizing it."

A toothy grin appeared on his face at her words, maybe she was finally starting to believe him, he's finally getting his Gali back.

The rain never ceased, only got stronger, but they didn't mind as long as they had one another, nothing in the world around them mattered.

Hearts beating simultaneously and a love once lost recovered–now much stronger.
