The rain stopped, leaving the earth moist and the air humid and fresh. It was dark outside, the stars in the sky aiding the moon in lighting the way for the two lovers. The pulled up outside the Thompson property, 230 acres of land left to grow wild like a conservation area. This is the same place she grew up and abandoned, the place that carried all answers to the questions that have been roaming her mind for a long time now, the same place she had met her forgotten lover and will remember once more.

She opened the door and stepped out of the car. Crisp air engulfed her, carrying a pine scent along. The ground was muddy and with every step she took to the rusty old metal gate, her feet sunk deeper, and her steps slowed. She ran her fingers along the padlock she remembers putting in the last she left the place. "Everything is still the same, I made sure the place is guarded after you left." She jumped a little at Larkin's voice, she didn't hear him step out of the car or walk up to her that's why she was startled.

A perplexed look appeared on her face when his words registered to her, she looked around for the guards but saw no one. Maybe they left when the rain began to fall. "They're not who you think they are." Her confusion deepened and was about to ask him what he meant but before she could ask, she was distracted by when he broke the padlock with his bare hands before opening the gate.

"Come." He said, pulling her back to the car. They drove up to her house and when they pulled up to the front, he took the keys out his pocket, handed them over to her and stepped out of the car without saying anything to her.

She too opened the door and walked out. The house is a three storied Victorian styled red brick house, with a few pieces of the wall crumbling off. The garden her mother adored so much, now filled with remnants of dead flowers and the pond she and her sister used to go to watch the ducks swim–now abandoned and dirty. Everything is as she left it, empty and dead.

She walked up the creaky stairs of the house, pulled out the keys and unlocked the door. She pushed it open and walked in. Her mother's colorful but elegant decΓ³r made the house look brand new and alive–shielding the darkness and sadness that actually lurked within its walls. Regardless of all that, this will remain her home for as long as she lives, a place she can leave but can never forget.

"I told you to guard the place while we're gone but I smell the presence of a Vampire, that was here not too long ago. Why is that?" Larkin shouted. The moment he stepped his foot out of the car, he caught the scents and wasn't too happy about it. So, he walked up to the cabin he knew his warriors would be piled up in to get some answers.

"Alpha, it wasn't just any vampire, it was her sister, and we honestly couldn't kill her knowing she's family. She meant no harm." Logan, the warrior in command explained to him–looking wary as the words left his mouth. He sat down on one of the open seats at the table and rested his chin on his knuckles. Gali's sister is the mate of the vampire king and knowing how possessive he can be with what belongs to him, he didn't waste time taking her away from her family the minute he found out she was his.

Gali and her parents put up missing persons' posters of her sister all around and even after three years there was still no sign of her. The case was closed but Larkin kept looking for her and when he finally found out of her whereabouts, he knew he couldn't and shouldn't interfere. He made sure the letters Gali wrote to her were sent though.

"Okay, when did it come by?" He sat up straight and folded his arms on his chest. The warrior sat down and answered, "on Tuesday, she wasn't armed but was accompanied by a few vampires, they too made it clear they meant no harm.

Larkin sat there a little longer and listened to everything they told him about the pack that happened while he was gone, though it seemed he was focusing on the conversations, his mind kept drifting back to his beloved. He had to go back soon.

When he returned, he found his mate curled up on the couch in the living room with a white fleece covering her body. He gently carried her to her room, tucked her in and took his place on the couch.

The pale crescent moon shone like a silvery claw in the sky along with a blanket of stars that stretched to infinity. Soon the sun would rise, bringing with it a new day. They would finally be together.

Sibi et filio suo Gali.
