Chapter 3 

Ring! Ring! Ring! 

The phone rang sharply in the room where the curtains were still drawn. Aurelia suddenly sat up from the bed. 

As Aurelia wrapped the warm quilt around her body, she felt momentarily unsure about where she was. 

When she turned her head to look at the phone that was still persistently ringing with that annoying ringtone, Aurelia’s clear and bright eyes were finally filled with astonishment and confusion. 

Aurelia then saw the wooden furniture in shades of maroon, the Epean–style hand–cranked antique phone, the orange floor lamp, and the coffee–colored carpet. 

“Isn’t this… Marcellus‘ house?” she thought. 

To be precise, this was also her home before. This was the home she and Marcellus lived in for more than three years after their marriage. 

However, Aurelia had never come back here again ever since their divorce. 

“Why am I here now? I thought I died in a car accident! Was I saved? Wait!” Aurelia thought again before she quickly lifted the quilt and looked at all parts of her body, making sure that every inch was fine with nary a scratch. 

Aurelia would not have been completely unharmed even if she was saved. 

“What’s actually going on?” Aurelia then pondered. 

The sharp ringing of the phone finally died down when nobody answered it, but Aurelia’s mind was no longer calm.

That was her favorite pair of slippers from before. 

They were brought back from Friyx during her school years there, and Aurelia had worn them for several years. She didn’t want to throw them away, so she brought them with her after marrying Marcellus right into their new home. 

Yet now, the slippers appeared in front of her again. 

However, she clearly remembered that the slippers were stained red by the blood at noon on the day before the divorce. 

“Did Marcellus clean them again and put them here? What does he want to do?” Aurelia wondered. 

Just as Aurelia could not figure it out, the phone, which had initially stopped ringing for less than a minute, began to ring sharply once more. 

Aurelia then looked at the gold–colored phone and could not make up her mind over whether or not to answer the call for quite some time. 

Everything that was in front of her now was so strange that she couldn’t understand what was going on, and the only one who could solve these mysteries was Marcellus. 

After that, she calmed down for a moment and picked up the phone resolutely as she put it by her ear. 

Before she could speak, a cold and calm voice came from the other end of the line. “Why did it take so long for you to answer the phone?” 

It was Marcellus. 

Although Aurelia hadn’t spoken to him for more than ten years, she could clearly recognize his voice. This man’s existence.

The sharp hatred in her chest swelled like a tornado, and she almost lost control of the emotions that rushed through her heart, wanting to break free from her. 

However, she still held back. 

The hatred of more than ten years could not be forgotten overnight. 

Reality had already taught Aurelia how to be silent and patient. 

The man on the other end of the phone seemed to have no idea that her emotions were as tumultuous or strong. 

Although Marcellus didn’t hear her response, he still said what he wanted to say. “We won’t be going out today since I have at meeting to attend. I’ll come back after that. I have something to tell you.” 

After saying that, he hung up. 

Aurelia couldn’t help but sneer. That was, indeed, Marcellus‘ style of doing things, and she had been secretly hurt many times because of his behavior. 

Unfortunately, she had a lot of things to ask him as well this time. 

Aurelia then got out of bed, put on her slippers, walked toward the door, and opened it. 

Before Aurelia could walk out, she spotted Linda outside with her arm raised, seemingly about to knock on the door. 

Aurelia was stunned again, thinking, “Marcellus still keeps her around?” 

She thought he would have dismissed Linda immediately after their divorce. 

After all, Linda was a distant relative of the Swanson family, so Marcellus had no reason to keep her. 

“Ms. Swanson, you’re awake?” 

That was a familiar greeting, but Aurelia felt like it was a lifetime ago since she heard Linda say 

“Linda, why are you still here?” 

that. 

“Ms. Swanson, didn’t you ask me to wake you up at this time? You said you’re going to Treasure Trove to get your customized things!” 

“Treasure Trove?” Aurelia thought. 

Upon hearing the familiar name, Aurelia went into a daze and felt that something was off at the same time. 

“Linda, what’s the date today?” 

“Ms. Swanson, what happened to you? Are you okay?” 

Linda was surprised and worried when she heard Aurelia’s question asking about the date. 

“Today is the 7th of March, Ms. Swanson. Tomorrow will be your birthday, and the third anniversary of your marriage with Mr. Francois!” replied Linda. 

“Ms. Swanson would never forget such an important day every year. What’s going on today?” Linda thought. 

Upon hearing this, Aurelia felt as if she was struck by lightning as she thought, “7th of March? The third anniversary of my wedding? No… No way!” 

“Today is the 7th of March, 2006?” asked Aurelia once more. 

Chapter 

Aurelia seemed to want to clarify this again, but her expression looked like she was in deep shock. 

Linda started panicking. “Ms. Swanson, don’t scare me! Are you okay? Do you want to call Mr. Francois and tell him to come 

back now?” 

“Linda, answer me first. Yes or no?” said Aurelia tersely. 

“Y–Yes! Ms. Swanson, you- 

Aurelia did not wait for Linda to finish speaking. She suddenly turned around and ran back to the windows in the room, pulling open all the curtains with force. 

Outside the window, the cold spring scenery in early spring was very obvious. 

Aurelia remembered that it was already a hot summer day when she and Scott had that accident. 

“Did 1. for some reason, become reborn after death and return to more than ten years before the divorce? What does this mean? Could it be that the heavens deemed my death unfair, and that’s why I was given another chance?” Many thoughts spiraled through Aurelia’s mind. 

Linda rushed in. “Ms. Swanson, are you okay?” 

Aurelia didn’t know if she should laugh in happiness or cry in excitement. 

She still couldn’t believe that she was reborn. 

She went back to more than ten years ago when none of the worse days of her life had happened yet. 

“Heavens above! Thank you for your kindness!” Aurelia inwardly thanked the heavens. 

No matter what, she was determined to not let the same misfortunes happen to her again. 

When Aurelia came back to her senses, she looked calm, as if she did not just lose her composure. 

“Linda, I’m fine. I slept a little too much, so I was a bit confused for a moment. Well, I’m fine. You can leave now. I need to change my clothes.” 

“Ms. Swanson, are you really okay?” asked Linda. 

“I’m fine. You can go,” said Aurelia. 

It was perhaps Aurelia’s tone was a bit stiff since Linda’s expression was obviously more worried than before. 

However, Aurelia was no longer the stupid and pampered rich girl anymore. She knew of the bitterness of life. 

Although time had turned back to more than ten years ago, Aurelia had already experienced the fickleness of human nature, and her once soft–hearted personality had hardened. All of that couldn’t be reversed anymore. 

Aurelia knew that Marcellus was going to come clean tomorrow afternoon, wanting a divorce. 

She also knew that the day after tomorrow, on the morning of the 9th of March, the Office of State Inspector General would take Michael away. 

As for Aurelia, she was going to make sure this did not happen. Not again. 

No matter how difficult it was, this time, Aurelia wanted to try her best to turn the tide. She wanted to save her own life. She wanted the life she didn’t manage to save in her previous life, 

Aurelia then put on her clothes in a hurry even though she still couldn’t adapt to the strange experience of rebirth. 

However, she was familiar with this room and found everything she needed. Among the items were her bag, wallet, phone, 

car keys, ID card, passport, and bank card. 

Aurelia then opened the door in a hurry, went downstairs, and drove away after starting the car. 

She wanted to go home to see her mother first. After that, she dialed her father’s number and asked him to come home right 

away. 

Time was already running out.
