The Talamute Prince
Chapter 26

My eyes flutter open as the sun finally seems to find its way into my room. I can smell the food, but when I see Patrick sitting at the table waiting for me, I'm no longer hungry. I roll to face the other way.

"Good morning, Laoonica." Patrick calls from behind me bow.

"Go away." I manage to mutter; I pull the blankets over my head only to have them jerked away by Marcy. I stare at her, but she bows and steps away taking the blanket with her.

"I said, Good morning, Laoonica. Polite conversation dictates you say it back." He holds his hand out to my seat across from him. My body might protest joining him, but my stomach objects to being empty. It's not a soft rumble either, the growl causes him to grin.

"I won't go through my day pretending last night never happened." He raises his eyebrow. I walk over to my seat in my gown since it's all I didn't burn.

"Not so flattering having breakfast in your nighty is it?" I pick up my fork and knife and do my best not to look up from my food.

"If I'm to be your prisoner then dress me as such. I won't dress elegantly for a man who holds me as his captive." He chuckles shaking his head. I can see him perfectly without having to raise my gaze to his.

"Then I'll have the seamstress visit you and have you fitted for a dress of my design. You from this point on shall not even have your creative outlet to help keep you sane. I shall enjoy watching you become accustomed to the things I want." He reaches across trying to bring my eyes to his, but I jerk away.

"I only have to outlive you." I take another bite. I chew as I stare out the window at the guards still present.

"I'll break you down before I rebuild you into my idea wife." He truly is evil and magnificently terrifying. As attractive as he is, he is ten times that evil in my eyes.

"You had no intentions of letting me leave from day one regardless of what you said, so why pretend you did? I've been your prisoner since you pulled me off that ship after your evil brother tried to kill me. He failed just like you will fail. I'm never going to be yours, ever." he close his eyes and then reopen them. I have hit a nerve once more with my direct insults to his character.

"You've got to be the most stubborn of all women I have ever met. All of this you've brought on yourself. I had every intention of treating you as I had on the ship, yet you continue to find new ways to irritate me." A smile comes across my face as I look up into his eyes.

"I will outlive you, your highness. Long after you grow old and grey, I shall remain beautiful and young. Your looks fade your ability to charm me will fade with it. You won't be around forever. Nor will you be able to win me over during your lifetime. I look the same now as I did when I was eighteen and according to the prophecy there is no end to my life. There are no magic scientific discoveries that will allow you to live as long as I do you waste of flesh." His smirk quickly fades as he realized what I say is indeed true, if he had no control over my powers then he also had not obtained the promised immortality of prophecy. He didn't say anything as he sit there looking at me with an expression of deep thought.

"Perhaps it won't take as long as you think it will to fall for me, after all it only took a month before to get you to marry me." His smile returns. I want to slap it from his face, but that would cause him to be violent again. My face had healed when I slept, but it had hurt and to not be able to defend myself due to my weakness as well as the innocent he had brought in, I didn't try it.

"When I believed you were a good guy and not the evil man, I know you to be now. You still don't hear me after I've told you what works and what doesn't, but if you insist on trying to cage me be prepared to lose me completely." I think of my father's words and I realize what I must do to get away from him. I know how badly it is going to hurt but that will not deter me. If I dove off the edge of my balcony would he be able to find my body before it healed? How did the Talamute jump so bravely off the edges?

"You'll never get away from me Laoonica, you'll be mine and the sooner you accept that the sooner we can move past all this foolishness." He stands coming toward me. He grabs my wrists and pulls me up into him. I cause flames at his grips and he releases me. I know it hurt because I smell the burnt flesh from his wounded hands.

"Now who will you get to heal you every time you touch me uninvited?" the evil smirk has now found its way to my lips.

"You will fix what you've done." He looks toward the guards then toward Marcy. The two who stood closest to the entry to the balcony came in and grabbed either side of her under her arms and drug her to the edge of the balcony holding her up and over the edge.

"Please, no." I scream trying to go after her, but Patrick holds me.

"Heal what you've done, or they will drop her." I reach for his hand taking them both into mine and let my healing energy flow. His hands heal as I fall to the floor. He motions for them to bring her back down.

"Your attachment to the innocent will always be your greatest weakness. Move her to her new room." he motions for the guards to grab me. They hesitate for a moment.

"The sooner you realize you will never have me again the sooner we can both move on." He grips me again he pulls me back to my feet pulling my face to his.

"I love you, Laoonica, and you will love me too." He pulls me in and kisses me. Since I cannot burn him, I use my nails and scratch blood down the side of his face instantly regretting it as my fears come true. He unleashes his fist knocking me to the floor. This time I felt the bone in his knuckle against my cheek and tears fell, as did blood from my nose.

"Looks like you will have to learn the way my mother did." He storms out of the room and slams the door. I suddenly realize that her warning wasn't to save her son it was to protect me. She told me to pretend to love him so that he would never show this side of his anger.

"Come with us please, Your majesty." The guard kneels beside me to look at the blood dripping from my nose. He offers me a small white cloth, but I turn it down.

"I won't be able to walk to the new room after this." I close my eyes and lay down on the floor. I feel the softness of self-healing come over me. I feel their strong hands roll me to the side then back. After I feel myself being lifted from the floor. I don't open my eyes as I'm guessing they used a blanket because it curved with my body. I open my eyes as they leaned me up between them to go up the lift.

"Are you okay your majesty?" Marcy asked. She was with the two guards. I didn't answer I just closed my eyes back and went limp.

I sit straight up in the bed that had been moved into the room. Patrick was again sitting at a table with food. I glance around at the limited furniture in the room. There was the bed I was on, a metal table for two where he was, and rack for my clothing.

"Where am I to bath and relieve myself?" He holds out his hand for me to take my seat across from him.

"Lunch is especially delicious today." He uncovers my tray, my stomach leaps with joy at the aroma, but my mind is stuck on the fact I must pee.

"Where am I to relieve myself at?" I as more forcefully.

"I'll escort you down to your room. I didn't want to risk putting any plumbing in here that would require crawl spaces around the room to be able to keep it repaired. We both know those spaces are too tempting for you." I stand by my chair instead of sitting. I'm doing the best I can to hold it in.

"Am I on a schedule to urinate then?" I'm doing a bit of an impatient tapping with my foot to distract my thoughts.

"All you have to do is ask, politely." He pauses for effect, but it only annoys me now.

"Will you please have someone escort me to the restroom?" I try to be as nice as I can. My tone, however, could use a bunch of work.

"Of course." He wipes his mouth and stands. I look around but I don't see a door. He walks over to the wall. He puts his fingers on a panel to the side and I watch a part of the wall move inward then slide to the side.

"You're taking me?" He has his arm out for me to grab. I don't take it as I step out of the room. The window the Talamute helped me climb out of to hide from Patrick now had bars in it.

"Don't worry. He won't be getting anywhere near you." I turn my head toward the elevator. It's a quick trip there and back with guards surrounding me the entire time. I didn't try to be shy around them either. If Patrick insisted upon having me so heavily guarded by men, then I would make their experience as uncomfortable as possible.

"Now then, lets finish lunch." We sit eating in silence. I couldn't think of a single word I wanted to say to him. I looked at the walls remembering how cold to the touch they were. Some king of installation to prevent my flames from reaching past this room. "Everything in this room is designed to withstand the damage you did to that ship."

"You expect me to lash out? I won't hurt innocent people." I glance at the panel laying on the table in front of him.

"In order to better rest the resilience of my scientific research of your abilities, yes." He takes a bite. My food tries to make a comeback after that statement.

"I'm not an object to be studied and I won't assist you in your research on me." I put my fork down and stand to leave the table.

"You said that you were a prisoner, not my queen, or a guest. You wanted to be treated like this." He continues to eat.

"I won't use my powers. I won't do anything you ask of me. You can't treat living beings like science experiments." I sit on my bed wanting him to leave.

"Are you done, your majesty?" the server asks as he looks at my barely eaten plate.

"I'm finished and so is she." Patrick wipes his mouth and hands and watches as they hall away the food. My hunger objecting to late. "The seamstress is on her way up. You will be measured and clothed in a design I pick especially for tonight dinner."

"I thought you said I'd only be eating with you." He approaches me now standing in front of me forcing his legs between mine he pulls my face to his.

"If you don't act like everything is okay in front of my people," he pauses bending to eye level, "I'll through one of your hand maids over the side of the city. Tasha can go first after I murder her father in front of her."

"I'll behave." I try to pull away, but his grip is too tight. He kisses me, but again I refuse to respond. I don't want him touching me, if I had better control over my powers, I'd kill him and just him. I could live with his death easily. The seamstress comes in, but Patrick doesn't leave, and I'm forced to be naked for a moment. I could feel his eyes on me like a web that I accidentally walked through. I can't stand it.
